The Township of Tiny Mourns the Passing of Councillor Richard Hinton

Date: August 27, 2018 (TINY, ON) It is with great sadness that the Township of Tiny announces the sudden passing of Councillor Richard Hinton on Saturday, August 25, 2018 after a battle with esophageal cancer. Councillor Hinton’s passion for his community was exemplified during his time as a member of Council since 2014.

Mayor George Cornell expressed his condolences for the Hinton Family in saying, “It is with a heavy heart we share the news of the passing of Councillor Richard Hinton. Richard will be remembered as a community champion, a committed member of Council, friend and, most importantly, a loving father and husband. Our hearts go out to Cathy, Brittany and Zack.”

The flags at the Municipal Office have been lowered to half-mast in recognition of this profound loss. Doug Luker, Chief Administrative Office of the Township of Tiny said, “On behalf of Township of Tiny staff, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Councillor Hinton, who we know as a well-respected community role model and family man. The Township was well served by his initiatives on Tiny Council; he will be greatly missed in our community.”

A memorial service will be held at Thornhill United Church (25 Elgin Street, Thornhill, ON) on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Midland SPCA or Toronto Wildlife Centre would be greatly appreciated. Condolences can be shared with the Hinton Family at www.rskane.ca.
