HIGH SPEED AT LAST FOR TINY!
According to a County of Simcoe report, Bell Aliant is to install WiMAX wireless broadband on 26 existing cellular towers across the County, reaching over 95% of Simcoe County residents. This technology is apparently less prone to interference and effective in many non line-of-sight situations. The service will utilize either an internal modem or an external modem (similar to a satellite dish) at customer locations, depending on the distance from the wireless tower. Service levels will range from $22.95/month for 512 kbps to $45.00/month for 2 Mbps. Service will become available in some areas starting in July 2009 with project completion scheduled for June 2010.
