Viasat Satellite Antenna Facility proposed for Concession 14 East: Viasat is a high-speed broadband internet service provider catering to rural customers. The facility would be located near 297 Concession Rd 15 E and could be operational by the end of November 2020. The proposed antenna’s height would be 11 meters.

CRTC Broadband Funding: In partnership with the Beausoleil First Nation, the Township of Tiny is seeking to identify vendor(s) to improve broadband transport infrastructure and asymmetrical high-speed internet service delivery in unserved/underserved areas as identified in the Canada Radio-Telecommunications Commission Broadband Fund Guide and to then complete an application to the CRTC Broadband Fund.

Amendment to Sarjeant’s Site Plan: In correspondence dated January 22, 2020, the Ministry of the Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) agreed to the Sarjeant Company’s proposal that Note “f)” on the Operational Plan which currently reads “Recyclable materials, i.e. concrete and asphalt may be imported on to the site” be removed and replaced with “Asphalt may not be imported on to the site. Other recyclable materials (i.e. concrete) may be imported on to the site.” (The Sarjeant Company owns two gravel pits in Concession 1 of Tiny Township, Licence #607-361, one of them permitting excavation below the water line.) FoTTSA Notes: This is a positive change.

New Administrative Building for Tiny: Discussion moves forward on this expensive investment. Minutes of Tiny’s Building Needs Assessment Committee for November 27, 2019 (included in the Regular Meeting Agenda for February 10, 2020) refers to a presentation by a representative from Infrastructure Ontario giving an “Overview of Infrastructure Ontario’s Loan Program”. It is a potential source of funding for the new administrative building. A Communications Strategy regarding the new building was put in place.
